Great Adventures for the 2010 Ride **Updated** 2/25
The 2010 National EMS Memorial Bike Ride has some new adventures planned for all participants this year via the development of two new segments of our annual event in May, a new event in Colorado in June and the addition of our own closing events in Washington DC. Enthusiasm and challenges accompany these changes!
The new routes have been posted earlier this week, we are now securing lodging, security, and other logistics along these routes. Multiple tasks are involved in planning such a large scale event. Please bear with us as these plans are solidified. I would hate to post tenative plans and ideas only to have to change them midstream and risk your trust in us.
You can start fund-raising we are a non-profit organization, our 501c3 status is still pending but hopefully will be approved and retroactive in the very near future. We do have a sample pledge sheet from our Louisianna event – I will be sure it is on the Muddy Angels website, if it is not already.
The dates are solid May 15-22 for the east coast, multi-day routes – ME/VT/KY and June 25 for the one-day Colorado route.

UPDATED 2/25/10
Closing Ceremonies:
Our Closing Ceremonies will be on May 22, 2010 in Washington DC. It will be the culmination (meaning:1. the highest, most important, or final point of an activity or 2.the arrival at, or the bringing of something to, a climax) of our week long event. All participants are invited and encouraged to attend and enjoy the evening which is in your honor!
It will be broken into 3 parts: A Closing Ceremonial Service, Dinner, and a Social/Dance. This event is free to all 2010 Muddy Angels and invited guests.
There may be a nominal charge for additional guests to cover expenses.
The Ceremonial Service is to honor the Muddy Angels (all participants, sponsors, supporters, and coordinators), EMS Services and Personnel – especially those along our routes, EMS and Public Safety Officials, Special Invited Guests, and some other important people who add to why we ride.
This event is NOT the National EMS Memorial Service that honors the families of the those killed in the line of duty – that event will be held in Colorado Springs, CO on June 26, 2010. The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride supports the National EMS Memorial Service in its tireless effort to recognize the losses of our peers and its phenominal support it gives to the families of our lost bretheren. Many of us are riding for inductees, all of us are riding to remember and bring attention to the hazards of our chosen profession.
The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, aka the Muddy Angels, is an independant organization, non-partisan in its mission to bring awareness to those sick, injured and killed in the line of duty. We welcome all EMS entiies to support us in this mission either by riding, providing route support, donating fiscal or in-kind contributions or cheering us on with notes of encouragement or physical presence throughout the many many states we will travel through in 2010 – ME-NH-VT-MA-CT-NY-NJ-PA-MD-DE-DC-KY-VA-LA-CO-SC and NE(coming soon!).
I am personally excited for what is shaping up to be a spectactular evening! Join me!

Fallen Angels Fund

The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride’s “Fallen Angels Fund”; has been established by the Board of Directors to provide support and aid to families; especially the children of fallen EMS practitioners. The goal of the fund is to assist EMS families in need in a fair and universal manner. All money for the fund has been raised through donations and by the registered riders and support persons, who are asked to raise a minimum $250 dollars designated solely to the Fallen Angels fund.
The Board of Directors has agreed upon the establishment of a fair means to disperse these funds. The average LODD age is approximately 33 y/o, therefore the establishment of a scholarship to be made available to the children of fallen EMS practitioners is a priority. Additionally, the purpose of the fund could be altered if necessary to assist an immediate cause that may develop which overwhelmingly affects the EMS Community as a whole.
The Fallen Angels fund was initially established in 2008 by the BOD and $24,000 was raised by the riders and support personnel who took part in the 2009 ride from New York to Roanoke, VA. Riders and support personnel are being asked to again raise funds for this worthy cause.
New Year. New Ride. New Logo.

While the 2009 rides remain a warm memory, it’s now time to look ahead to 2010. And to kick things off, here’s the 2010 logo, once again penned by our own Steve Berry. He may just have a career in drawing yet!
The logo looks great, but please remember that it is a copyrighted logo. If you want to use it on your website to link to ours, great, but please don’t reproduce it or use it on promotional materials without the permission of the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, Inc. -Thanx!
One Day Event: June 25th 2010

The Muddy Angels are pleased to announce a special one-day event to be held on June 25, 2010 in Colorado. The ride, starting in Denver and ending in Colorado Springs is to show support for the National EMS Memorial Service and the families of the honorees. This additional Muddy Angel event does not replace our premiere week long event held during EMS Week.
Partnership with Vision Zero

NEMSMBR is pleased to announce a 2010 ride partnership with Vision Zero, an air medical transport safety awareness initiative of the MedEvac Foundation International and the Association of Air Medical Services.
Jonathan Godfrey, Vision Zero Chair, is pleased about Team Vision Zero joining the Muddy Angels in the 2010 memorial ride. “Vision Zero is excited to ride with the Muddy Angels in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride. The air medical flight community has participated in the ride the past several years and we recognize the sacrifice of crewmembers lost in the line of duty. This year we will formally unite as a team to show support for the EMS community,” comments Godfrey.
Vision Zero is a proactive safety building effort. Its goal is to have zero air medical transport accidents of consequence through crew education, awareness, and vigilance. For more information on how to join Team Vision Zero, contact Jonathan Godfrey at visionzero@rocketmail.com.
